Amidase assay of M. smegmatis mca mutant and complement. The cells were pelleted and sonicated in 25 mM HEPES, pH 7.5. Protein analysis was performed, and 100 μg of protein sample from each strain was reacted with 30 μM MS-mB and 3 mM β-mercaptoethanol in a volume of 50 μl for 30 min.
