Raster scan of a nanorod sample covered by HeLa cells containing the fluorescent dye Atto 647N, again using (a) a long-pass filter and (b) a short-pass filter for photoluminescence detection. No clear nanorod signals can be seen in the Stokes images, whereas they are clearly distinguishable in the anti-Stokes image, proving the advantage of the latter for fluorescence background rejection.
