Stress-strain relationships predicted using the cohesive FE model. The moduli of the extrafibrillar matrix of wet bone predicted from the simulations were around 27.0GPa under tension and 55.3GPa under compression. For dry interface, the moduli of the extrafibrillar matrix predicted from the simulations were around 39.9GPa under tension and 65.1GPa under compression. Such a high value of the modulus would make the extrafibrillar matrix carry the most of load in the pre-yield deformation, thus dominating the bulk pre-yield behavior of bone
