Minimal induction of IFN response and inflammation in LFRT of vaginally infected mice. (A–D) WT female mice were i.p. or i.vag. infected with 2 × 105 PFU of LCMV Armstrong. Levels of mRNA at the indicated time points were determined with qRT-PCR, normalized to GAPDH, and expressed as fold-change over uninfected controls. (E and F) Groups of female mice at the indicated stage of estrous cycle or after DMPA treatment were i.vag. infected.
