The main PL intensity peaks of the compound eyes, thorax front, eighth abdominal segment, and wings are located at 501.6, 500.9, 489.9, and 498.2 nm, respectively. The PL emissions of the eighth abdominal segment make them appear as light blue in color, but the compound eyes and thorax front appear to be greenish or cyan in color. This is the reason why the damselfly Ischnura senegalensis is also called the bluetail.
