The parameter ξ that controls the relative strength of the active force, vA and the interaction force, vI, is chosen to be ξ = 1.5 × 103. (A) The x-component of the dimensionless total velocity of the left cell is reported as a function of time. Snapshots of the cells configuration are given at four times. (B) At long times, the y-component of the inactive part of the velocity deviates away from zero due to small numerical errors. This causes the cells to deviate from their original direction and pass by one another, deforming their shapes in the process.
