Upper and lower regions of the cortical ribbon show similar selectivity profiles. Dividing sites that could be reliably (see Materials and Methods) localized in the “upper” or “lower” layers did not reveal additional spatial structure. For comparison, sites localized to within 1 mm of the middle of the cortical ribbon were used to create a “middle layer.” These sites could overlap upper and lower layer sites. A, Monkey 1.
