PG spring constants drastically affect forespore morphologies. By decreasing $k_{\mathrm{pep}}$ forespores elongate, while by increasing $k_{\mathrm{pep}}$ forespores shrink, as measured along the long axis of the cell. Changing $k_{\mathrm{gly}}$ has only minor effects on volume and surface area. The main effect is on forespore curvature (see Figure 4—figure supplement 4): high $k_{\mathrm{gly}}$ increases the curvature of forespore ends (making them more pointy), while low $k_{\mathrm{gly}}$ decreases the curvature of the forespore ends. Septum is not shown for clarity.
