Posterior surface Cauchy stresses of the representative simulation at maximum flexion. The lateral edges of the mesh across all directions did not register much stress, likely due to their anterior attachment to the rigid articular facets. Posterior surface stresses are reduced from the anterior stresses because fibers are free to deform and rotate before acquiring stress. The largest stresses (σ_XX, and σ_XY) occurred in the primary direction of the two defined fiber families.
