(B) After crosslinking or tagging, the CCS of the intact protein complexes increases by 5–10%, as shown in the histogram shown, which plots ion CCS against the four forms of each complex studied. (C) A histogram plotting the average charge state recorded versus the chemically modified forms of each of the complex studied here reveals no differences in average charge state for BS3-crosslinked proteins, and modestly-increased charge states for those proteins modified with a quaternary bearing chemical tags and CXL agents.
