MT-WQ-IDL targets the early steps of HIV-1 replication. A time-of-addition assay was performed to evaluate the inhibitory activities of MT-WQ-IDL and AZT (an HIV reverse transcriptase inhibitor used as a control) against infection by HIV-1 IIIB, an X4 virus (A), or Bal, an R5 virus (B), at different intervals postinfection. MT-WQ-IDL could not inhibit infection by either X4 or R5 HIV-1 when it was added after 2 h postinfection. Error bars show standard deviations.
