Representative micrographs of immunohistochemical technique against iNOS antibody in spleen, thymus and lungs from BTV-4-infected and Mock animals. IHC against iNOS antibody, 100X. The number of iNOS+ cells was highly increased in spleen from BTV-infected animals and these cells were mainly located in necrotic areas surrounding the white pulp (asterisk). In the thymus of infected mice, immunoreactivity against iNOS antibody was higher than mock-infected individuals and was randomly distributed throughout the parenchyma. A few number of iNOS+ cells was present in the inflammatory infiltrate of the lung of infected mice.
