Baicalein induced apoptosis in cancer cells through multiple mechanisms, such as increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, inactivating 12-Lipoxygenase (12-LOX), inhibiting PI3K/Akt and its down-stream proteins, as well as up-regulating tumor suppressors p38 and p53.
