In the proposed procedures corneal epithelial cells are generated from induced pluripotent stem cell by culturing the cells on gelatine in human limbal stromal cells conditioned medium. Fibroblasts can be also directly transdifferentiated to limbal stem cells (and epithelial cells) by overexpressing three limbal specific transcription factors: TCF4, CEBPD, ΔNp63α and culturing in corneal specific medium.
