Effects of NAC on Prx I induction (A) and cell death (B) in response to arsenate. Primary osteoblasts isolated from wild-type mice were pretreated with 5 or 10 mM NAC for 1 h and then arsenate was added to the cultures to a final concentration of 0.05, 0.10, or 0.15 mM. Some cell cultures were collected after 10 h of treatment for total RNA isolation and the rest were collected after 20 h of treatment for cell death measurement.
