Comparison of the seven pooled Crotalus adamanteus venoms used in the toxicity assays. Protein abundances were largely similar, but snake venom type II metalloproteinases (SVMP-II) were down-regulated in juveniles and an additional band was present in the ENP and SAP populations. Protein identification was based on approximate molecular weights and venom labels are consistent with Fig. 1. Crotalus atrox venom was used as a positive control. Abbreviations are as follows: LAAO, L-amino acid oxidase; SVMP-III, Snake venom type III metalloproteinase; SVSP, Snake venom serine proteinase; SVMP-II, Snake venom type II metalloproteinase; CTL, C-type lectin; PLA2, Phospholipase A2.
