The morphology of peroxisomes without PTS1 proteins is similar to that of wild-type peroxisomes. Morphological and immunocytochemical analyses were carried out with the UTL-Fox1p-GFP (a and d) and pex5Δ-Fox1p-GFP (b and e) strains and with the pex5Δ-Fox1p-GFP strain expressing Pex5p-N (c and f). All cells were grown for 12 h on oleic acid medium and fixed in glutaraldehyde. For immunogold labeling, antibodies raised against GFP (a to c) or thiolase (d to f) and gold-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibodies were used.
