The most common phyla in grain-eating birds are Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes. In cockatiels, only Firmicutes are dominant. Tenericutes are common in cockatiels and chickens, while Fusobacteria are in greater proportion in emu and duck. Selected poultry, and captive birds are mostly granivorous, in wild conditions they are feeding in vegetable matter and small animals (insects, snails, etc.).
