Galleria mellonella infection model on C. jejuni 11168H, 81-176, 81116, and M1 wild-type strains and respective rrpA and rrpB mutants. G. mellonella larvae were injected with a 10 μl inoculum of a 24 h C. jejuni culture diluted to OD600 0.1 by micro-injection in the right foremost leg, giving an infectious dose of approximately 106 CFU. Larvae were incubated at 37°C with survival and appearance recorded at 24 h intervals. PBS and no injection controls were used. For each experiment, 10 G. mellonella larvae were infected and experiments were repeated in triplicate. Asterisks denote a statistically significant difference (∗ = p < 0.05) between wild-type and mutant strains.
