Calculation of growth rate. Growth rate for each strain was calculated for the mid exponential phase between time point 4 and 5 h and is given as doubling time per hour (td/h). S. carnosus TM300 ΔccpA showed a decreased doubling time compared to its parental strain. The influence of high glucose concentrations was only minor. The mean values of three independent experiments are given.
