The sensing of d-glucose is polarized and occurs at the luminal side. Mice were intravenously injected with d-glucose (1 g/kg, n = 10) or saline (n = 11). Ghrelin levels were determined in (a,b) plasma, and in protein extracts from the (c) stomach and (d) duodenum, 40 min after administration.
