The response to GL obeys the Bunsen-Roscoe law of reciprocity. Etiolated seedling growth was monitored in response to a 102 μmol m−2 GL pulse delivered over 5 (white circles, n = 21), 50 (black circles, n = 20), or 500 (triangles, n = 21) seconds. Growth rates were monitored in darkness for 1 h and then for 1 h after the onset of the pulse. The vertical dashed line indicates the start of the pulse.
