PRCs and coupled oscillators. A spike occurring too early for synchrony between 2 neurons with a type II PRC will lead to a delay in the next spiking cycle. Inversely, a spike occurring too late will lead to a spike advancement. This mechanism corrects for deviations from synchrony. The critical property of the PRC is the positive slope at the zero-crossing.
