SDRGA is able to efficiently oxidize the extruded C-7 aldehyde of 6 to an acid, thus producing 7, as shown in this GC-MS chromatogram with comparison to an authentic standard (std.) of 7 (the relevant mass spectra can be found in Supplementary Fig. 10). SDRGA can therefore be referred to as a GA 7-oxidase.
