Acute acid exposure disrupts Cl homeostasis and results in a compensatory increase in Cl uptake. Larval zebrafish at 4 days postfertilization exhibited a significant reduction in Cl uptake (A) and whole body Cl levels (B) during exposure to acidic water (pH 4.0) for 2 h.
