Schematic illustration of the effect of delphinidin on PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling. Simultaneously targeting both PI3K/Akt and mTOR has the potential to inhibit both upstream and downstream signaling in the pathway, resulting in decrease in cell and tissue growth, angiogenesis, and normalization of tissue architecture. Delphindin by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt pathway also keeps the mTOR pathway in check and results in inhibition of cell survival and growth.
