LDHB expression is induced by exercise in human muscle and negatively correlated with changes in intramuscular pH levels during muscle contraction. Samples from 4–8 active and 15–17 healthy sedentary controls were used for this analysis. mRNA expression levels of LDHB, LDHA, and PPARGC1A was determined by qRT-PCR.
