Sf9 cells were transfected with viral DNA alone (experiments 1, 2, and 3) or cotransfected with viral DNA and the p264.306 plasmid, which includes the pif and pif-2 genes (experiments 4, 5, and 6). Neonatal larvae were fed OBs produced by the infected cells. At least two independent replicates were performed for each experiment. Dead larvae were examined for the presence of OBs.
