Consistent with the inflammatory stimulation, serum hepcidin concentration (A) and hepcidin (Hamp) mRNA expression in the liver (B) were increased between day 3 and day 5 but progressively returned to normal between day 5 and 11 and were significantly reduced between day 13 and day 18.
