TLR4−/− B1a cells fail to respond TLR9 agonist. ApoE−/− mice were subjected to splenectomy, allowed 3 weeks to deplete spleen‐dependent peritoneal B1a cells, and adoptively transferred with TLR4−/− B1a cells followed by either TLR4 against (LPS) or TLR9 agonist (type B CpG oligodeoxynucleotide) injection for 3 weeks (see text for details). ELISA determination showed that TLR4−/− B1a cells failed to respond TLR9 stimulation. B6 indicates plasma IgM levels in WT mice. Total of 7 to 10 mice/group. ∆ P<0.05 compared with week 1.
