We systematically evaluated the impact of swab materials used for sample collection and carrier reagents. For swab samples, total RNA for each sample was coprecipitated with either tRNA or linear acrylamide, and all of the sample was used for RT reaction (100-μl reaction). An aliquot of each RT reaction (10 μl) was used for TaqMan PCR. cy, cynomolgus macaque; rh, rhesus macaque; NS, no sample available; ND, not detected.
