Effect of DOX exposure on ANP and BNP gene expression. Total RNA was isolated from the hearts of male or female C57Bl/6 mice collected 24 h or 6 days after the administration of a single IP injection of 20 mg/kg DOX or saline. Gene expression of a ANP or b BNP was determined by real-time PCR. Results of all groups were normalized to beta-actin levels and are expressed relative to male control of the same time point.
