Rats were treated daily with DEHP (0, 250, 500, 750 mg/kg) by gavage for 30 days. Histological alterations in the thyroid and liver were evaluated by HE staining. Magnification: X400. (A) Serum TT4, FT4, TT3, FT3 and TRH levels were reduced, whereas TSH level was not affected after DEHP exposure. (B) The viability of Nthy-ori 3-1 cells was stimulated following DEHP treatment. (C) Histological changes in the thyroid were observed, as characterized by increased numbers of thyroid follicular epithelial cells and decreased thyroid follicular cavity diameter. (D) Histological changes in the liver were observed, as characterized by reduced hepatocyte number and elevated hepatocyte diameter.
