Gliding motility of M. pneumoniae cells whose attachment organelles are fluorescently labeled with the EYFP-P65 fusion. Strain TK162 was observed by phase-contrast microscopy and fluorescence microscopy at 37°C. The phase-contrast image was recorded continuously with a video recorder. The microscope was shifted to the fluorescence setup for 2 s at 28-s intervals. The time intervals between images in this figure are 5 s. The positions of attachment organelles of four typical cells are indicated by colored arrowheads.
