Schematic representation of Se metabolism inside plant cells. Selenate is transported inside the plant through sulfate transporters present in plasma membrane of roots. It is then transported to leaf through xylem. Selenate is then assimilated to DMSe and DMDSe by a series of sulfur metabolic enzymes.
