Same as Fig. 2 except showing the decrease in fusion rates when alcohols are added to the trans chamber. trans addition models initial extracellular exposure of cells to alcohol. The level of inhibition increased with dose. White bars show fusion rates in extended control experiments. Rates started to fall off after ∼300 fusion events.
