Negative staining for Safranin-O and collagen type II was observed in the repaired tissue of the 2-week and blank groups. Repaired tissues in the cartilage defect regions of the 4- and 8-week groups showed continuous and strongly positive staining for Safranin-O and collagen II, but negative staining for these markers in bone defect regions. Black arrows indicate repaired regions.
