H-and-E staining delineates the adipocyte contours in chow diet (A) and high-fat diet (B) BAT. High-fat diet resulted in a slight increase in adipocyte sizes. Alternatively, a large size increase was observed in WAT adipocytes for high-fat diet tissues (D) compared with the chow diet (C). E: mRNA expression of the UCP1 gene was significantly higher in BAT compared with WAT.
