(a) Respiratory activity of C. jejuni 81–176 in Mueller-Hinton broth supplemented with different concentrations of formate, succinate, or fumarate under microaerobic conditions.. The respiratory activity was determined using CTC (5-cyano-2,3-ditolyltetrazolium chloride), which is reduced to formazan. This colorimetric reaction was then quantified using a spectrophotometer.
