Widespread expression of LFA-1 is evident on tumour cells (brown staining; arrows, D and J) whilst ICAM-1 is evident on the intersection between tumour cells and brain parenchyma (brown staining; arrows, F and L). Immunofluorescence images of human breast cancer brain metastasis (B, E) and lung adenocarcinoma brain metastasis (H, K) demonstrate co-localisation (arrows) of LFA-1 (red) with tumour cells (blue; DAPI nuclear stain).
