Response of EPO and TfRc1 to iron deficiency. (A) Kidney erythropoietin (EPO) mRNA was significantly elevated in ADHR and WT pups (n ≥ 9/group) from mothers receiving a low-iron diet versus pups from mothers receiving a control iron diet. (B) Kidney TfRc1 was also significantly increased in the low-iron diet mice (*p < 0.01 versus either genotype receiving control iron diet).
