Differential expression of phospholipase A₂s (PLA₂s) and related genes in the airway epithelium of asthma. Microarrays assessed the expression of PLA₂-related genes from epithelial brushings of children with atopic asthma (AA) relative to healthy, nonatopic (HNA) control subjects. (A) Expression of secreted PLA₂ groups 1B, 2E, 2F, 5, and 12A were differentially expressed at a false discovery rate (FDR) of 0.02 or less. (B) Cytosolic PLA₂s and platelet activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF) were not differentially expressed, whereas PLA2R1 and PLA₂-activating protein (PLAA) were differentially expressed (*FDR ≤ 0.02).
