Nicousamide reduced urinary albumin excretions (UAE) and urinary total protein in diabetic SD rats at 10th and 20th week (n=8; #P<0.05, ##P<0.01 vs. normal group; *P<0.05, **P<0.01 vs. DN model group). All the SD rats were induced to diabetic nephropathy by streptozocin intraperitoneal injection, and nicousamide was orally administrated for up to 20 weeks.
