As an example, T at first anticodon position corresponds to mU when coding for twofold degenerate amino acids (pairing with 3rd codon position bases A and G) and to U in other cases (pairing with any 3rd codon position nucleoside). mU, unspecified modification of U (e.g. S2U, Sc2U, Um or xm5U); aoc, “all other cases”; Xxx4 and Xxx2, four- and two-codon boxes of the sixfold degenerate amino acids; CP, codon position; AP, anticodon position.
