Expansion and productive HIV-1 infection of Foxp3 positive CD4 T cells at pleural sites of HIV/TB co-infection

CD4⁺CD25^hi+ in PFMC and autologous PBMC from HIV/TB co-infected patients with pleural TB were assessed for intra-cellular Foxp3 expression (n=16). As compared to autologous PBMC, PFMC contained higher CD4⁺CD25^hi+ T cells (p<0.01) and higher proportion of Foxp3⁺CD25^hi+ T cells (p < 0.05).
