The number of records that two objects co-occur in is loosely correlated with their mutual information. Objects co-occurring in MEDLINE records with "capsaicin" are shown in this graph sorted in descending order by their log2 MIM score (see Equation 1), which is plotted on the central axis. The number of records they co-occur within is displayed as vertical bars. Note that a good proportion of objects can co-occur many times, yet at the same time have a negative mutual information measure.
