(A) The patient is in the supine position, with the surgeon viewing the right leg from the left side of the patient. Distal is to the left and proximal is to the right of the image. An intraoperative photograph shows the medial cortex of the femur with K-wires placed to guide the osteotomy cuts. Care is taken to ensure that the K-wires are perpendicular to the long axis of the femur and parallel to each other. A ruler is used to confirm the osteotomy size based on preoperative calculations.
