Final radiographs of the 6 specimens from both groups, obtained after sacrifice 9 weeks postsurgery. Periosteal callus was visible in all specimens. ACTIVE specimens demonstrated the classical mechanism of biologic bone healing by robust callus formation and bridging. Compression plating suppressed callus formation to a large degree.
