The length of treatment is a key factor to achieve high treatment efficacy. (A) The LPSI at the end of treatment is predicted for treatment protocols with a total duration of 4–28 weeks. The treatment sessions in the simulated protocols occur either on a daily (blue dots) or every other day (green dots) basis. (B) A 12 weeks treatment with fluence of 90 Jcm−2 is simulated for continuous (black) and pulsed irradiation with low (blue) and high (red) peak intensities. (C) The variation in the LPSI value is predicted for irradiation schemes with low and high intensities of continuous wave blue light.
