Accumulation of zeolin in leaves of transgenic tobacco. Proteins were extracted from young leaves of plants expressing zeolin, T343F phaseolin (PHSL), phaseolin-KDEL (PHSL-KDEL), or transformed with the empty vector pGA470 (Co) and were analyzed by SDS-PAGE. Extraction was performed in the presence (lanes 1–7, 9, and 10) or absence (lane 8) of 2-mercaptoethanol. Extract containing 50 μg of protein was loaded in each lane. Lanes 1 to 8, Protein blots using antiphaseolin antiserum. Lanes 9 and 10, Gel stained with Coomassie blue. Numbers at left indicate the positions of molecular mass markers, in kD.
